Another training in.... France!

I went for a one-week training at my company's favourite learning centre located in France. A bit disspointed that it was held in France, cos I wanna go somewhere else - but at this point any training in any location will do.. for I want to be away from the office for a while!

Turned out our accommodation was superb! A studio flat with all mod cons! Perfect! Too bad we only got few hours at night to spend in the apartment!

All in all it was a great get-away. Weather-wise it was brilliant on both sundays but cold and raining during the weekdays.

It was also a bonding-time for us as a group. One week away from the office where we got to do everything together. The most fun part was when we played 'werewolf' games on almost every other night!! That was hillarious!

Ok. here are some of the pics.. :)

20072007 - A small celebration at home

We had a small 'kenduri kesyukuran' for my cousin after her akad nikah the day before. It was held at our home. So since this kenduri is not pretty much 'ours', I had loads of time taking pictures around - tapi gambar pengantin ada satu je hehehe...

140707 - My brother's wedding

This is the first time our family is having this kind of 'kenduri' and boy it was TIRING!

So I guess that's how it works eh? If it's your own kenduri, you will never have time to take pictures or even touch up your make -up? Cos that certainly what happened to me. I was busy running around, and my supposed-to-be-curly hair fell flat and my face was all oily!

Anyway these are the pictures - from putting up the arabian canopies till the end of the kenduri.. and oh yeah, the kenduri was held at home AND in the evening - hence the super-busy, chaotic mode!

Carnegie Mellon Commencement 2007

This is CMU's 110th commencement, and Thank God it was not raining by the time we got there.

We were running a bit late actually, but my parents and I managed to get seats. It got scorchingly hot mid-ceremony, and during Bill Cosby's keynote address, I could not help it anymore, the headache was excruciatingly painful.

While other mat salehs were happily basking in the sun, I used my shawl to cover my head from the heat! hehehe. seriously I don't fancy sun these days, but that does not mean I love miserable grey, rainy weather either..

Anyways, I love USA style commencement ceremony. It's laid back, everybody was having fun and it's anything but formal. Unlike what we always have back home or in the UK..

Congrats sis!!!!

Mechanical Engineering, CMU conferring of degrees ceremony

This is probably one of the most memorable days in my sister's life, and I am glad I was there to be a part of it.

*Trust me sis, I endured 7 hours flight, not just to shop the whole of America but to celebrate this with you hehehehe*

Anyways, what I love about the ceremony over here is that it is less formal than what we have back home or even in the UK. There's lots of laughters, name screaming after the graduates receive the scroll, even my dad screamed my sister's name!!

In the UK (at least my alma-mater), guests can take pictures, but only from their seats, they are not even allowed to walk or wander around!

All in all, it was a brilliant day, the weather was great and we took loads and loads of pictures!! Congrats notty sis!!

NYC, usa

I was captivated by its beauty, the minute the aircraft I boarded descends towards the earth, thus making manhattan looking impossibly spectacular from the bird's eye view.

I've seen this much-talked city on tv and movies far too many times, hence when I first stepped out of the subway in Times Square, it felt so surreal and unbelievable.

It's a modern, big, busy, international city. Would I want to come here again - as a visitor, yes, but to actually live in this city? - probably no.

If given a choice - NYC or the quiet town I'm living in right now, surprisingly I would choose the later - I guess quiet, country lifestyle has mellowed me over the years...

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA

Went to visit my sister in Pittsburgh, for her graduation ceremony. My parents were also there- it was like a little family reunion, except our two brothers could not be with us.

Pittsburgh is a big city - oh well at least a lot bigger than Oxford. The weather has been brilliant, but as you'll notice in the pictures below, we still need to wear jackets, as the cold wind blows once a while.

All in all, I had a wonderful time. Wished that my sister never have to leave Pittsburgh so that I can come here again.. oh well..

Oslo, Norway Trip

Work trip to Oslo in February. Oslo is such a beautiful and peaceful city. Winter made the city looked even prettier. Definitley love this place, except for the food! But I really love their brown cheese!
